Successful Female Mentors Are Real People Too
Dee Britton
Today I had the absolute pleasure of meeting a mentor of mine, Kylie Bartlett, whom I have been following for about 18 months. Kylie has been a shining light and we have created a wonderful relationship through socail media.
Kylie Bartlett is a Social Media Expert and is known as the Web Celeb. Kylie has taken everything she’s learned about life, business, fame and fortune and launched her very own Web TV show called www.thewebceleb.tv. Her mission for her Web Celeb TV show is to provide people with all the necessary resources, tools, support, motivation and inspiration to create ‘Web Celeb’ status for themselves and their business. She combine substance with humour to inspire, motivate and serve as a catalyst in inspiring others, on how they can achieve outstanding success and celebrity results in life, all via the power of the internet.
One of my goals this year was to actually meet with Kylie over a bottle of bubbles. I did get to meet her today (so exciting) but we shared a wine after an amazing event, instead of a bottle of bubbles (we will have to do this later in the year).
There are two things that I want to talk with you about today.
1. Why we put mentors, speakers, and successful people on pedestals often thinking they they are far more superior.
2. Being A Key Person of Influence
Successful Female Mentors
It was about 5 years ago that I started my personal development journey and really begun to learn who I was and that I had a purpose in this world. At that time there did not seem to be too many mentors that were mumpreneurs (mum entrepreneurs). Most of the people that I started to follow where either males or female without children.
Only a mumpreneur can really understand another mumpreneur as when you have to run a business (usually from home) and raise a family, things can get complicated at times because we mostly put our family first and our business second. Nothing is more important than being a mum.
Lately it seems that there are some very successful mumpreneurs emerging and as an aspiring successful mumpreneur we usually put these women who are our mentors up on pedestals.
We think that they are far more superior and way out of our league.
Well let me tell you something, They are anything but this. It is us that put these amazing women on these pedestals because we are so in awe of what they have achieved. It is when we step up or we get the opportunity to actually met them we realise that they are just like you and me. They are mums who have just done what it takes to be successful and they are more than happy to connect with us and treat us like long lost friends.
And that is exactly what happened to me today with Kylie. Meeting her was like we were long lost friends. She was no better than me, just more successful, at the moment.
It is our own insecurities and self doubt that usually makes us think that we are out of the league of these successful female mentors.
Have you got a successful female mentor that you would love to meet?
Or have you met one of your successful female mentors only to find that she was just a busy working mum like you and she was very happy to meet you too and have a chat with you?
If so I would love you to share in the comment box below.
Being A Key Person of Influence
This is a topic that I also wanted to share with you but I will do that tomorrow, so keep an eye out for the next blog.
Keep taking massive action and you too will be a very successful mumpreneur very soon.
To health, happiness & living the life of YOUR dreams.

I love your perspective Dee! We all have gifts to share and regardless of the our level of experience sharing is really at the root of our passion! I LOVE hearing from parents and yet 90% of them begin their emails with “I hope I am not bothering you” or “I don’t want to take up too much of your time”…I know there are those who make it clear that they cannot engage one on one because of time constraints and put you through their “people” but when you are in the people business I believe it should be high on your list! For me, I am here to serve and connect! Great article!!:)

So true Denny, yes we all do have gifts to share. You are doing an amazing job as a parenting coach, sharing your own gifts. You are definitely serving and connecting. Thanks for being so approachable. I hope your clients realise how lucky they are xo
Wonderful read Dee
. Thank you so much for sharing. There is something so powerful and exciting about learning from mentors! Keep up your great work.
Thanks Cate.
Dee words can’t express how I’m feeling right at this very moment. I’ve been walking on cloud 9 for the past 48 hours (I had my own speaking gig on yesterday) and then I read this beautiful, humbling blog, now I’ve now just risen through the stratosphere!!
To be called someone’s mentor is such an honour & a privilege & not something I EVER take for granted.
Like attracts like my darling friend. When you’re authentic, congruent, transparent and real, you attract the same back.
When we saw each other on Friday for the very first time ‘in real life’ it was like catching up with an old girlfriend.
Your brand suits you to a tee because you’ve sure made me feel fabulous FOREVER!!
Thanks for your very kind words Kylie. I love how you said when you are congruent, transparent and real you attract the same back. If only more speakers had these traits.
Hoping that I am able to make many more millions of women Feel Fabulous Forever over the next few years.
Love always
Hello Dee,
I too think Kylie Bartlett is a wonderful mentor. I have had the very fortunate experience to have heard Kylie and more than one occasion and think she is amazing. Every time I hear her I want to be just like she is only in my own niche. Kylie is an inspiration for woman all over the place and if I can be half as successful as she is I will be a happy lady. Us mums need to stick together and unite, to know other mums out there have your back is a comforting thought. To all mums out there, pat on the back and cheers to you.
I am hearing you Bree. Looking forward to taking the journey together. I would love to hear more about what you do.
Mentors/teachers are always appreciated and so true we all have much to offer.
